SANTA CRUZ -- A 22-year-old Watsonville man was robbed of his San Francsico 49ers jersey and a watch recently after three young men on bikes rode up to him near Riverside and Liebrandt aveneus and demanded them after explaining that they had stopped him because he was wearing red, police said.
Officers were called to the area about 12:30 p.m. Friday, spokesman Zach Friend said.
They learned that the victim had been walking from an appointment when one white man and two Latinos, described as ages 18 to 25, rode up on bikes and the white man made a gang claim, Friend said.
The victim told them that he didn't want any trouble and they grabbed his watch and the jersey before riding away on their bikes, he said.
The white suspect was estimated to be about 20 years old and wore a blue hat and a blue and white shirt. One of his companions was estimated to be in his early 20s and had a muscular build and tattoos and wore a green and born shirt. The third was described as 18 years old and wore a white tank top.
