Resume: Reid earned second-team All-America honors and compiled a career-high 91 tackles in 2012 as a second-year starter. Recorded two interceptions each of his three seasons. Recruited to Stanford by then-coach Jim Harbaugh but stayed loyal to LSU, where his father (Eric Reid Sr.) was a three-time All-America hurdler.

TANK CARRADINE

School: Florida State

Position: Defensive lineman

Height, weight: 6-4, 276 pounds

Drafted: Second round, 40th overall

Resume: Had 11 sacks before he sustained a torn ACL with two games left in his senior season. Third-team All-America, first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2012. Compiled 26 sacks in two seasons at Butler Community College (Kansas). Ran 40-yard dash in 4.75 seconds at Saturday workout in native Cincinnati.

Quote: "There's nothing wrong with my knee and there's no long term things that I think will go wrong with my knee, because I'm healthy. I did tear my ACL, but I was able to run at full speed."

VANCE McDONALD

School: Rice

Position: tight end

Height, weight: 6-4, 262 pounds

Drafted: Second round, 55th overall

Resume: Ranks in Top 10 in Rice's record book with 119 career receptions, 1,504 yards and 15 touchdowns. Started 28 of 48 games. His 262-pound frame is heavier than any of the four tight ends drafted ahead of him. President of student council at East Chambers High in his native Winnie, Texas (population 3,500).

Quote: "I kind of had the feeling (his draft position) would be someone coming out of left field, and that's pretty much what happened here."

COREY LEMONIER

School: Auburn

Position: Outside linebacker

Height, weight: 6-3, 255 pounds

Drafted: Third round, 88th overall

Resume: Finished his Auburn career tied for seventh in school history with 17 sacks, including 5½ last season as a junior. Led the Tigers with 9½ sacks as a junior, was a reserve on their 2010 national-championship team.

Quote: "It's a great defense and I'm humbled to be a part of it. I'm just excited to get out there."

QUINTON PATTON

School: Louisiana Tech

Position: Wide receiver

Height, weight: 6-foot, 202 pounds

Drafted: Fourth round, 128th overall

Resume: Second-team AP All-American as senior while serving as team captain. Flourished past two seasons under now-Cal coach Sonny Dykes, totaling 183 receptions for 2,594 yards and 24 touchdowns. Spent previous three years at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College.

Quote: "Some people would say it was a spread offense -- get the ball out quick and watch us go. Up-tempo, no huddle, as many plays as possible."

MARCUS LATTIMORE

School: South Carolina

Position: Running back

Height, weight: 5-11, 221 pounds

Drafted: Fourth round, 131st overall

Resume: Set South Carolina records with 41 career touchdowns (38 by rushing) despite having knee injuries prematurely end his past two seasons. Ran for 1,197 yards and 17 touchdowns as freshman. Had 818 yards and 10 touchdowns his sophomore season before ACL tear. Rebounded last season with 662 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns before Oct. 27 knee injury. Made 77 career receptions, three for touchdowns. Five-star prospect and nation's top-rated running back coming out Bynes High (Duncan, S.C.).

QUINTON DIAL

School: Alabama

Position: Defensive tackle

Height, weight: 6-6, 304 pounds

Drafted: Fifth round, 157th overall

Resume: Played every game in Alabama's run to last season's national title. Had 21 tackles and 1½ sacks his senior season. Drew scrutiny for questionable hit on Georgia quarterback in SEC Championship game. Transferred from East Mississippi Community College.

Quote: "I'm a versatile lineman that can play multiple positions in any situation."

NICK MOODY

School: Florida State

Position: Linebacker

Height, weight: 6-2, 237 pounds

Drafted: Sixth round, 180th overall

Resume: Moved to linebacker last season after playing free safety and had 20 tackles in 14 games. Could be special-teams corps player. Won Don Powell Award as defense's unsung hero.

Quote: "I'll be able to learn a lot playing alongside NaVorro Bowman and Patrick Willis. It's a great situation for me. They would elevate my game."

B.J. DANIELS

School: South Florida

Position: Quarterback

Height, weight: 6-foot, 217 pounds

Drafted: Seventh round, 237th overall

Resume: Set USF record with 25 rushing touchdowns before season-ending broken left ankle Nov. 3. Third all-time in Big East with 10,501 total offensive yards. Had 526 rushing attempts for 2,068 yards. Recruited to USF by then-coach Jim Leavitt, now the 49ers linebackers coach. Has run read-option offense since freshman year in high school.

Quote: "You look at the mobility, he has a real sense when he runs of eluding defenders, and he has a very strong arm. With his athleticism, you wonder how many ways he can contribute. CARTER BYKOWSKI

School: Iowa State

Position: Offensive tackle

Height, weight: 6-foot-8, 304 pounds

Drafted: Seventh round, 246th overall

Resume: Switched from right tackle to left tackle for his senior season. Converted to tackle after playing tight end since high school in Eden Prairie, Minn. Enthusiastic blocker added 60 pounds to become lineman.

Quote: "I loved blocking and the physical nature of the trenches, and I figured I'd play more as a lineman. It's worked out well."

MARCUS COOPER

School: Rutgers, cornerback

Position: Safety

Height, weight: 6-2, 192 pounds

Drafted: Seventh round, 252nd overall

Resume: Ran 4.37-second 40-yard dash at Rutgers pro day. His only collegiate interception came as senior. Returned a fumbled punt return for a touchdown as a junior.
