SANTA CLARA -- Cornerback Eric Wright has failed his physical with the 49ers, voiding last week's trade for him with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"He's not on our team," 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed after Monday's training-camp practice for rookies and select veterans.

As a result, the 49ers retain the conditional 2014 draft pick they sent to the Buccaneers, and Wright is expected to be released by the Buccaneers.

Wright, a San Francisco native, had been traded Friday to the 49ers. Shortly thereafter, reports surfaced that Wright had been arrested a second time in a year for suspicion of drunk driving in Los Angeles.

Harbaugh declined to reveal what aspect Wright failed in the physical, nor was Harbaugh willing to discuss whether Wright's DUI arrests played a factor.

"A better guy to talk to is Trent," Harbaugh said in referring the question of Wright's off-field issues to general manager Trent Baalke. "He has a better understanding of the transaction."

Baalke was unavailable for comment.

The 49ers have eight other cornerbacks on their roster, including all five from last season, as well as veteran hopeful Nnamdi Asomugha.
