Jack Elway, the son of Broncos general manager John Elway, was arrested early Saturday on charges of disturbing the peace and assault.

John Albert Elway III, 24, was booked into the Denver jail and was released on Saturday on $550 bond, according to jail records.

Elway -- a graduate of Cherry Creek High School in 2008 and Arizona State University in 2011 -- lives in Newport Beach, California,according to his Facebook page.

"This is a personal family matter, and the Broncos will not have any additional comment on it," said Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth.

Contacted by phone, a woman at John Elway's Cherry Creek Village home, who identified herself as his step-mother, declined to comment.

The alleged assault happened at Colfax Avenue and Lipan Street, according to Denver Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez.
