Police say violent attack led to fatal shooting

As the family of a 19-year-old San Jose man questioned whether lethal force was necessary in his shooting death by a Pleasanton officer, police department investigators say the man hit the officer numerous times in the face and the head before he was shot, first by tasers and later with a gun.

Gun used by suspect belonged to federal agent

Authorities confirmed that the gun used in the killing at Pier 14 belonged to a federal agent. Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez was arraigned on murder charges Tuesday in connection with the slaying. He is being held on $5 million bail.

Abandoned, injured dog finds new home

Bruno Max was in bad shape last month when he was found in an Isleton field missing a paw and with his back fur shaved. When his owners from Oakland were contacted they said they did not know how the dog got there and would not to take responsibility for the four-year-old lab mix. Today, Bruno has found a new home and is awaiting surgery.
