An summer exchange program is seeking two East Bay families to host French students who are visiting the Bay Area for three weeks in August.
American Discovery is bringing 12 French students, ages 15 to 17, to the area from Aug. 2 to 22. But it only has 10 host families signed up for the group, said Jonathan Draper, host family coordinator.
The students have their own health insurance and spending money. Host families are responsible for food and lodging, and picking up and dropping off the students at the San Francisco airport.
The students will take a camping trip Aug. 6 to 13, and then return to the host families for another nine days. "The students see this as an opportunity to practice their English in a conversational setting," Draper said.
