Tri-Valley Swim League Championships
On Aug. 4, the Tri-Valley Swim League held its championship meet at the Dolores Bengston Aquatic Center in Pleasanton. The league would like all the volunteers that make all the swimming events possible and special thanks goes to the retiring, Terry Beatty, aka, Mr. Starter, for his service as head starter for the league and the Del Prado Swim Team. The DBAC Swim Team Pirahnas emerged as this year's team winner. Six league records were. Leading the record breakers was Justin Lee from the Pleasanton Meadows Swim Team. In the boys 13-14-year-old division, Lee set individual records for the 50 breaststroke (29.88 seconds), 100 IM, 58.73, 50 backstroke (28.09). He also led the 200 Medley Relay (1:56.01), along with Jack Geasa, Nicholas Tucker and Michael Azuma.
Also setting a new records were Isabella Santos from the Dublin Green Gators for the Girls 11-12 50 backstroke (31.11). Setting a new record in the boys 13-14 200 medley relay were Antonio Fernandez, Jordan Lee, Tristan LaLonde, Blake Hawthorne (1:56.01) of the Club Sport Tidal Waves. There were also many other top performances from among the nearly 1,000 participants.

Pleasanton's Ballistic United Boys Premier U17 soccer team, coached by Andy Cumbo and assistant Pablo Espinosa, traveled to San Diego to participate in the San Diego United Summer Challenge Tournament. The team swept its bracket, winning each game, then had a resounding 6-1 victory in the championship against the Chula Vista Rangers 6-1.
The team dedicated its victory to one of the team's players, Michael Paiva, who is recovering from a compound fracture and surgery he sustained in a game back in June. Nick Goldstein had a fantastic offensive weekend with eight goals and two assists. Top defensive player of the final game was Goal Keeper, Steven Morgan, who assisted an already strong defense with key saves.
Ballistic United U17 Premier will be working hard to continue its winning streak when it participates in its own hometown Ballistic Summer Classic from Aug. 17-19.
The Pleasanton Rage U12 Orange girls soccer team got the season started in fine fashion by going undefeated in the Pleasanton Showcase tournament July 28-29. The Rage started the tournament with a 3-3 tie aganst Lamorinda. Rage goals were scored by Maggie McPeek, Abby Fried and Holly Judson. In the second game of the day, the Rage defeated De Anza Force 2-1. Judson and Yasmine Springer scored for Rage as it earned its first victory of the season.
On the secon day, Rage defeated San Juan Sprits 3-1 with Springer scoring twice and McPeek scoring once. In the last game, Rage earned a win in the consolation game by defeating a tough Mustang Blast team 1-0. Fried scored the game's lone goal and goalie Haley Roundtree recorded her first shutout of the season. Rage team members include Abby Fried, Addy Mapes, Delaney Soble, Eknoor Kaur, Haley Roundtree, Holly Judson, Isabella Adamos, Isabella Huyler, Karin McCarty, Casey Cring, Kiera Hegarty, Leila Shafi, Lilly Fehrmann, Maggie McPeek, Natalia Margaris, Sarah Mirr and Yasmine Springer.
The Tri-Valley Babe Ruth 13-Year-Old All-Star team won the Pacific Southwest Region Tournament in Surprise, Ariz. Tri-Valley went 6-1 in the tournament and outscored its opponents 107-53.
In the opening game, Tri-Valley defeated Northern Utah 13-3. But lost to Central California 22-15 in its second round game. With its backs to the wall in the double elimination tournament, Tri-Valley defeated Nevada 15-0 in the second game of the night. On the third day, Tri-Valley defeated Hawaii 12-11 and Central California 16-3 to advance to the finals against previously unbeaten El Segundo. Needing two wins, Tri-Valley defeated El Segundo 18-1 in the first game. In the second game, El Segundo had a 9-4 lead entering the top of the fifth inning, but Tri-Valley scored eight runs in the fifth and three more runs in both the sixth and seventh innings for a 18-13 victory and the tournament championship.
Tri-Valley's Jack Morgan was the tournament MVP, and teammates James Cowick and Jack Maloon were named All Tournament. James Cowick, Joshua Ott, Ryan Bowman and Darroch Koel provided excellent pitching for Tri-Valley throughout the tournament. Morgan, Maloon, Jack Fryer, Saiki Roy and Cowick provided the offensive power and Nic Venezia, Roy, Nate White and Cowick turned in several defensive gems for Tri-Valley.
The Tri-Valley team will now travel to Kitsap, Wash. to participate in the Babe Ruth World Series tournament.
