World Series Tournament

The Tri-Valley Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Star team wrapped up its season with a third place finish at the Babe Ruth World Series in Kitsap, Wa. on Aug. 13-22. Tri-Valley won the Northern California Championship in Woodland, on July 19, and the Pacific Southwest tournament in Surprise, Arizona on Aug. 4 to qualify for the World Series tournament.

In the World Series tournament Tri-Valley defeated New Jersey, 5-0, then went on to defeat Indiana, 6-1, North Carolina, 11-3, and Washington, 9-1, before losing to North Carolina in the semifinals, 4-1. The Tri-Valley team finished the Summer World Series Tournament with a 14-2 record.

Tri-Valley's Darroch Koel pitched the sixth no-hitter ever recorded in the World Series against Indiana, and teammates James Cowick, Joshua Ott, Ryan Bowman, Jack Maloon and Clark Eder also earned victories on the mound.

Offensively, Dante Albanese had the highest batting average (.571) for any player in the World Series tournament. Albanese was named to the All-Tournament team and was also awarded the batting title for the tournament. Jack Fryer had the highest batting average (.417) for all shortstops and Darroch Koel earned a gold glove at first base.
