DANVILLE -- Just hours after its crews rushed to the neighboring city of Alamo to try to fix a massive gas leak that prompted evacuations, PG&E crews were dispatched to Danville for a power outage caused by a traffic collision.
Around 2:30 p.m., Danville police said a vehicle crashed into a PG&E power pole on Diablo Road between Green Valley Road and Clydesdale Road, forcing officials to shut down the road.
The closure is expected to last into commute hours.
Traffic on eastbound Diablo Road is being diverted to northbound Green Valley Road. Westbound traffic on Diablo Road is being turned around east of Clydesdale Drive. Motorists are advised to use Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Tassajara as alternate routes.
The downed pole also caused a power outage affecting roughly 48 customers.
