Christmas concert set at Golden Hills

BRENTWOOD -- The Golden Hills Community Church Celebration Singers host a Christmas concert "The Season of Joy.

The concert will feature Celtic music and is directed by Karla Adams.

Performances will 6 p.m. Dec. 22 and 2, 4 and 6 p.m. Dec. 24, 2401 Shady Willow Lane in Brentwood.

Christmas concert set at St. Ignatius Church

ANTIOCH -- St. Ignatius of Antioch Church presents a Festival of Choirs concert featuring the Golden Gate Boys Choir and Bell Ringers directed by Steven Meyer, founder.

The Golden Gate Boys Choir a regional Catholic Boys Choir, which draws many member boys and families from parochial and private Catholic schools. However, boys of any denomination are welcome as choir members. Enriching the choral music program is the English handball program, which provides in-depth experience in close teamwork, note reading and rhythm.

The performance will be 7:30 p.m. Dec. 22 at the church at 3351 Contra Loma Blvd. A reception will follow the performance. Admission is free. For information, call 925-778-0768.

'Humbug on stage for 38th year in Antioch

ANTIOCH -- Resurrection Theatre continues its 38th annual "Humbug at the Virginia J. Calisesi Studio Theater, 512 W. Second St.

Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday; and 1 p.m. Monday.

Based on Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol, the traditional Antioch Christmas classic with a Christian message is directed by Frank J. Ballesteros who also stars as Scrooge.

Piano Duo music and wine recital

BRENTWOOD -- Piano Duo Polyhymnia will present a music and wine recital at the Thompson Music Studio at 2628 Saint Andrews Drive.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 20. Doors will open one-half hour before the performances.

The event features music by Schubert, Liszt, Brahms and Bartock inspired by the folk music of Hungary.

Local art group looking for artists for show

PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg Arts Collaborative is looking for local artists and volunteers in preparation for its Annual Winter Art Exhibit opening Jan. 19 at the Impulse Gallery at 329 Railroad Ave.

Submission of artwork will take place Jan. 12 and 13 at the Impulse Gallery. However, much work needs to be done in preparation for that date and PACO is looking for volunteers to help.

Each artist may submit three pieces for a $35 entry fee. PACO s artist s opening reception will be held on Jan. 19, between 6 and 8 p.m. and feature cash awards, live music, hors d oeuvres and refreshments.

Local artists show continues at Lynn House

ANTIOCH -- The eighth annual Local Artists Collection runs through Saturday at the Lynn House Gallery, 809 W. First St.

The exhibit, a local favorite, features more than 35 local artists and is a diverse, non-themed, mixed-media exhibit of artworks featuring paintings and photographs. The show is a local favorite and provides the community an opportunity to view and purchase art during the holiday season.

The Lynn House Gallery is open Wednesdays and Saturdays during exhibits from 1 to 4 p.m.
