ANTIOCH -- A medical helicopter is en route to a major injury crash that occurred Monday afternoon on Marsh Creek Road at Deer Valley Road, officials said.

The crash happened when a silver Chevrolet Malibu drove off the road for unknown reasons and into an adjacent ditch, California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Bartlett said. While it was not immediately known how many people were injured, East Contra Costa County Fire Chief Hugh Henderson said a medical helicopter was called to the scene to airlift at least one person to the hospital.
