PHOENIX — John Jaso will be behind the plate Tuesday for the A's in a Cactus League split squad game against the Brewers at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, but if Milwaukee runners try to steal to him, he may not be able to do much to stop them.

The area around Jaso's right elbow is still wrapped in a soft protective casing from where he was hit by a pitched ball Wednesday. Jaso said he tried to throw on Monday and it did not go well.

``I still feel it,'' Jaso said. ``But I have to get out there. I have to catch. I need to call a game, get used to being in the flow.''

He is a little out of practice. Jaso's game Monday was the first for him as a catcher since a bout with concussions on July 24 ended his 2013 season.

Hence his eagerness to get into the game.

``Getting back there is the most important thing,'' Jaso said. ``So what if I lollipop a throw to second base?''
