• Saratoga has a new Asian fusion find. The menu at Mint Leaf Cuisine marries the cuisines of Thailand, Vietnam, China, Malaysia, India, Hawaii — oh, and Maine, if you count the lobster. Opening the restaurant was a dream fulfilled for owners Mint Sirisawad and wife Laksana Chuangpia of Mountain View. Still, Sirisawad will continue his bio-med job at a Sunnyvale startup. Fusion cuisine and pharmaceutical development? "It's actually kind of the same thing," he said. "You mix things up." So far, popular entrees have included the Mango Crispy Trout, Spinach Curry Scallops and the spicy Blackened Pork Chop. Details: Open every day for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and dinner from 5 to 9:30 p.m. 14420 Big Basin Way, Saratoga; 408-872-3763; www.mintleafcuisine.com.

  • Burlingame's Medallion Steakhouse has opened in the space along Highway 101 formerly occupied by Kuleto's. Although the focus is on natural and organic beef, the menu is much broader than that, with a raw bar, fresh fish entrees, plus pasta and pizzas baked in a wood oven. Steak dinners run from $25 to $46 and include two side dishes. The lounge opens daily at 4 p.m.; dinner starts at 5. Details: 1095 Rollins Road (at Broadway), Burlingame; 650-342-4922; www.medallionsteaks.com.
