OAKLAND -- A young woman was found shot to death Friday morning on a freeway onramp in the Oakland hills, police said.
The woman, an 18-year-old Oakland resident, was found about 1:30 a.m. on the Lincoln Avenue onramp to northbound Highway 13, not far from the Mormon Temple. Some motorists getting onto the highway saw the body and notified authorities. Several people stopped to try to administer first aid but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are trying to determine if the victim was shot at the scene or somewhere else and left on the onramp.
Police don't have a motive yet and no arrests have been made. The woman's name was not released until her family can be notified.
Police blocked off Lincoln Avenue between Monterey and Mountain boulevards as well as the onramp while they conducted their investigation. Highway 13 was not closed.
The killing is Oakland's 55th homicide of the year.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the killer. Anyone with information may call investigators at 510-238-3821 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572 or 510-777-3211.
