OAKLAND -- A 19-year-old man was shot to death Monday night outside a West Oakland market, police said.
The man's name was not released by police, pending notification of relatives.
The shooting happened about 8:55 p.m. outside a market at the intersection of 8th and Adeline Streets which is also across from the Acorn public housing complex.
Police said the man, who lived in the area, was shot multiple times by at least one and possibly more suspects who fled on foot before police arrived. He later died at a hospital.
Police don't have a motive yet and no suspects have been arrested.
The killing was Oakland's 79th homicide of the year, one more than last year at this time.
