LIVERMORE-- The North Livermore offramp on westbound Interstate 580 was closed shortly before noon Wednesday after a vehicle crashed on the shoulder, spilling oil across the roadway, the California Highway Patrol said.
About 11:55 a.m., a silver Lexus crashed into the guardrail near the North Livermore offramp and began leaking fluids out onto the exit, a dispatcher said. An elderly man was taken to the hospital with complaints of chest pain, but no other injuries were reported.
The offramp will remain closed until cleanup can be fully completed, as the small amount of oil presents a hazard to motorists, namely motorcyclists, Officer Steve Creel said. Estimated time of reopening is unknown.
