Santa Clara County is one of three Bay Area counties that are among the nation's top 10 counties for wages, according to a new survey released Thursday by federal officials.

San Francisco County and San Mateo County were also among the top 10 in the first quarter of 2012, the report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed.

The average weekly wage was $1,957 in Santa Clara County, $1,791 in San Francisco and $1,622 in San Mateo County. New York City was No. 1 in the nation with $ 2,464. Santa Clara County was ranked No. 2, San Francisco was No. 5 and San Mateo County was No. 7.

Alameda County had an average weekly wage of $1,276, while Contra Costa County's was $1,256. Santa Cruz County had a weekly wage of $902.
