PIGEON POINT -- The body of a San Francisco fisherman who disappeared off the San Mateo coast after his boat capsized two days ago was found by relatives combing the shoreline, leaving one of the boaters still missing.
Authorities were notified of the discovery about 5:30 p.m. Monday after family members located the man near the north end of Pigeon Point Road where it meets Highway 1, said Detective Rebecca Rosenblatt of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
The man has since been identified as Carl Deng, 63, of San Francisco.
Still missing is Ping Tao Tsang, 55, who was among four men who set off from a point near Candlestick Park around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Five hours later, a wave flipped their 23-foot fishing boat about a mile out from Pigeon Point Lighthouse.
Two of the men who were wearing life jackets made it to shore and called for help. Tsang and Deng were not wearing vests, and an extensive Coast Guard search by air and sea was conducted but was suspended Monday afternoon a couple of hours before Deng's body was found.
The Coast Guard said as of Tuesday morning it did not have any immediate plans to resume the search.
