FREMONT -- Thanks to help from police and a social media employee, the owners of a wedding album found under a tree outside a city day care center last week have been located, police said.
A parent whose child attends the day care found the album encased in a gold briefcase outside a Kindercare Child Care Center on the 38700 block of Paseo Padre Parkway on Nov. 20. Its cover reads "Happy Wedding 12/04/2008 in USA" and "Vijay weds Ranjit."
After the album was discovered, police issued a news release that included a photo of the album and of the married couple asking the public's help in finding them.
After hearing about the find, a Facebook employee began a search on the social media site and found someone who appeared to be the husband in the photographs, police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said.
The employee then contacted the person about the album. The husband, who Bosques said lives in Union City, recently traveled to India and said that when he left the United States the album was in a Union City storage unit. Police are investigating the possibility of a break-in at that storage facility.
Bosques said the man told the Facebook employee he would send an in-law to pick up the album.
