SAN JOSE -- A fire at a construction yard sent up a dramatic column of smoke near the Interstate 280 and Highway 101 interchange Monday night, but fire officials said no structures were involved and no one was hurt in the blaze.
According to San Jose fire Capt. Rob Brown, the blaze broke out at Amland Corporation on the 1400 block of Felipe Avenue around 8:30 p.m. He said a storage rack had caught fire and that while there was "pretty significant damage to the racks and contents," nobody was put in danger.
Amland is "a licensed electrical contract and civil transportation engineering firm," according to the company website.
The fire was knocked down around 9:10 p.m.
Brown said the cause was not immediately evident.
