HAYWARD -- City Councilman Mark Salinas will lead a walk around the new downtown one-way traffic loop Saturday morning.

Workers are scheduled to begin converting stretches of three streets to one-way starting at 8 p.m. Friday. The loop is the linchpin of the Route 238 Corridor Improvement Project, a $100 million undertaking that stretches six miles from Interstate 580 to the north down Foothill, around downtown, and then down Mission to Industrial Parkway.

Salinas invites everyone to join him on his "Loop the Loop" walk, which starts at 9 a.m. at Burbank School, 222 Burbank St., heading up to Foothill before ending at 10 a.m. at City Hall Plaza, 777 B. St.
