A man who viciously beat and killed the 18-month-old child of his girlfriend in Menlo Park in 1988 was denied parole Wednesday for the fifth time, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

Abraham Glasper was 20 years old and under the influence of cocaine when he fatally attacked the toddler, who had been left in his care by the mother, according to the District Attorney's Office.

On Oct. 4, 1988, Glasper pleaded no contest to one count of second-degree murder and was subsequently sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

He is being held at California State Prison Solano, where Wednesday's hearing took place. Two members of the victim's family addressed the Board of Parole Hearings panel, according to the District Attorney's Office.

After a six-hour hearing, the board found Glasper unsuitable for parole. He will have to wait at least another three years for the next hearing.
