MENLO PARK -- Fire crews are working to get control of a two-alarm blaze at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, officials tweeted late Wednesday.

The blaze, which broke out around 10:04 p.m. at the laboratory located at 2575 Sand Hill Road, raged on for at least a half-hour before fire officials posted on their Twitter account that crews were starting to be released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and there was no word on whether anyone was injured late Wednesday.

The laboratory, operated by Stanford University, is one of 10 Department of Energy Office of Science laboratories and is known for its particle and chemical reaction research.

Traffic in the area has been impacted.
