HERCULES - A man was shot in the arm after a fight broke out at a house party in Hercules over the weekend, police said Monday

Officers responded around 1:35 a.m. Saturday to reports of a physical fight at a house party on Aspen Court and while en route to the home, got reports of shots fired on the same street, police said.

One victim, a 21-year-old man, was struck by the gunfire and taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries to his arm and later released, Hercules police Sgt. Ruben Rodriguez said.

Police said deputies from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office and Pinole police officers also responded to the scene.

Some 60 partygoers were detained during the investigation, according to police.

Police said the absent homeowner's 22-year-old daughter was throwing a party with guests ranging from their late teens to early 20s, most from neighboring East Bay cities.

"There were so many people involved that we're still in the process of interviewing everyone and trying to get a definite description of the suspects," Rodriguez said.

The sergeant said he could not recall the last time someone was shot in Hercules.

The shooting remains under investigation.
