A fisherman found a human foot in the surf at a Pacifica beach Sunday, but police declined to say whether it may belong to a missing San Bruno man.
The foot washed ashore at Rockaway beach and was spotted about 3:15 p.m., said Pacifica police Capt. Fernando Realyvasquez. Officers turned the foot over to the Coroner's Office, which is working to identify it.
Realyvasquez said it would be pure speculation to link the foot to the case of 27-year-old Joseph McHenry, who was reported missing by his family March 5. McHenry, a former Marine, went on an overnight rock climbing and camping trip near a Pacifica beach March 2 and hasn't been seen since.
Searchers found his car in a Pacifica neighborhood and his backpack was discovered on the beach near Mori Point. But there has been no other sign of him.
Anyone with information about the foot or McHenry's disappearance can call Pacifica police at 650-738-7314.
