GARDNERVILLE, Nev. -- A fast moving wildfire burning in northern Nevada along U.S. Highway 395 south of Gardnerville has grown to more than 2 square miles and is threatening about 30 homes.
The Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center says the fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. Friday and has burned about 1,500 acres of sagebrush and pinion-juniper. It's about 5 percent contained.
The dispatch center's Mark Struble says no structures have been lost but some evacuations are taking place.
U.S. 395 was closed Friday afternoon from Riverview Drive south to Holbrook Junction. The Nevada Highway Patrol had no estimate on when it might reopen.
One firefighter has been treated for non-burn injury.
About 200 firefighters, including 10 air tankers, a helicopter and 19 engines, are battling the blaze.
