OAKLAND -- A man was shot and killed in Oakland's Grand Lake neighborhood Wednesday evening, an Oakland police officer said.

Police responded to the 800 block of Vermont Street, about a block from Grand Avenue, at 6:34 p.m.

The victim was found there suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
