MENLO PARK -- A man was shot and killed Saturday night, and police are searching for two men who ran away from the scene.
At 6:30 p.m., Menlo Park police received a call of gunshots fired in the 300 block of Ivy Drive. Officers arrived to find a man lying in the street, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical units arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.
Witnesses told police they heard gunshots and saw two men wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts running from the area. One was seen running north on Ivy Drive; the other was seen running westbound on Modoc Avenue.
Police said preliminary information indicated that the victim was in a vehicle when the shooting occurred and was not a resident of the area.
The man was not immediately identified, pending notification of relatives.
