San Jose High lineman Isaiah Espinoza was taken off the field in an ambulance Thursday after suffering what his coach called a "stinger in the neck" and "tingling down his lower legs."
The sophomore was injured in the fourth quarter of the Big Bone Game against Lincoln. He was taken to Valley Medical Center for precautionary measures, San Jose coach Darrell Williams said.
Espinoza had movement in his extremities, Williams said.
The injured occurred with Lincoln leading 55-6 midway through the final quarter. The Lions won the annual Thanksgiving Day game between the schools 55-13.
In 2009, Matt Blea of San Jose High sustained a near-fatal skull fracture during the game.
