OAKLAND -- A 49-year-old man shot to death Dec. 13 in East Oakland was identified by police Wednesday as Mark Mitchell.

Mitchell, who had addresses in Oakland and other cities, including some in Contra Costa County, was shot about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at the intersection of 83rd Avenue and D Street. He died at the scene.

Officer Robert Trevino said Mitchell had a relative who lived in the area and he had been visiting her earlier in the day.

Trevino said police don't have a motive yet for the killing and no arrests have been made.

He said police were told Mitchell occasionally worked as a security guard.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the killer.
