OAKLAND -- A man shot on the 2300 block of San Pablo Avenue ran and collapsed into the doorway of a business Saturday afternoon, police and a witness said.

Police arrived around 4:40 p.m. to find a male adult down in a doorway, according to Oakland police.

According to Max Allstadt, a witness at the scene, the man ran approximately 200 feet before he fell into the doorway of a liquor store on the corner of San Pablo Avenue and 25th Street.

The victim, which Allstadt described as a 21-year-old African American man, was shot in the upper right thigh or buttock.

He was still conscious when he was transported to a local hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound, Allstadt said.

Police could not immediately provide an update on his condition.

There was no suspect information available. The investigation is ongoing.
