Oakland firefighters are cleaning up a fire at a vacant triplex in East Oakland on Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.

The fire in the 1300 block of 83rd Avenue was reported at 2:05 p.m.

The blaze was under control at 2:29 p.m., a fire dispatcher said.

After crews arrived, a second alarm was called but was quickly canceled, the dispatcher said.

The three-unit building was boarded up and mostly vacant, but the owner stayed there occasionally, Battalion Chief Eleanor Bolin-Chew said.

The cause is under investigation, she said.
