SAN LEANDRO -- Talented teens in San Leandro are invited to display their skills while also raising funds for teen programs at the city's first San Leandro's Got Talent competition Feb. 8.

Teenagers 13 to 18 years old wishing to display their musical, athletic, comedic or dramatic talent must apply for a spot in the talent show by Jan. 8.

Applications can be found on the city's website, at the San Leandro Main Library or in the Recreation and Human Services Department at the San Leandro Civic Center. Auditions will be held at the library Jan. 14 and 15.

Teens selected will compete in front of local celebrity judges for prizes, including a video on YouTube, city staff said.

The event -- organized by San Leandro Public Library's Teen Advisory Council and the city's Teen Advisory Commission -- will be held 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Main Library.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children and will be sold at the San Leandro Civic Center and Main Library beginning Jan. 8. Proceeds will benefit teen programs at the library and the commission's mini-grant program for youth-serving organizations.
