ANTIOCH -- A woman working on her car Friday was run over and killed after the car slipped into gear and rolled backward, pinning her underneath.

Antioch police responded about 2 p.m. to the 800 block of Wilbur Avenue for reports of a vehicle accident.

Arriving officers found the 60-year-old Antioch resident pinned underneath her vehicle.

Contra Costa firefighters responded and pulled the victim from under the vehicle, but she was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters shortly after extrication, police said.

Her identity has not been released.

According to police, a preliminary investigation indicated the woman was working under the vehicle when it slipped into gear and ran her over.
