ACLC holding school information night, tours
The Alameda Community Learning Center, a tuition-free, public charter middle and high school (grades six to 12), invites parents and students interested in exploring their programs to attend a school information night and tour.
On Thursday, ACLC will host a "Middle School Information" meeting at 6 p.m. and a "High School Information" meeting at 7 p.m. Tours of the school will be offered Jan. 11 at 8:30 a.m. for the middle school and at 9:30 a.m. for the high school. AC Transit is hosting "My Transit Resolution," a contest through its Facebook page that allows participants to share their "2013 Transit Resolution."
Prizes include a gift certificate to Faz Restaurant in Oakland, tickets to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. tribute concert at the Paramount Theatre
The contest, which began Dec. 26, will end Jan. 11. A "transit resolution" is anything someone can do to promote public transit, such as taking the bus to the gym or getting a Clipper card. To take part in the contest page, go to www.actransit.org.
County commission seeks public member
The Alameda Local Agency Formation Commission is accepting applications to fill its vacant alternate public member seat.
The deadline to file an application is 5 p.m. Jan. 7. Commissioners coordinate changes in local government boundaries and review ways to streamline government structure. The alternate commissioner participates in discussions and deliberations, but can only vote when the regular public member is absent or disqualified.
Applicants must be residents of Alameda County, and cannot be a current board or council member, officer or employee of Alameda County, or of a city or special district in Alameda County. Meetings are typically held on the second Thursday of every odd month (January, March, May, July, September and November) at 4:30 p.m. in Dublin.
