A car fire set grass ablaze alongside Highway 9 in the hills above Saratoga, and crews were working on extinguishing what dispatchers called "not a big" fire Friday evening.

The fire started when a car -- reported as a green Mini Cooper -- went off the roadway near Heather Heights Road and ran into a tree around 6:18 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol dispatchers. Both lanes of the highway were expected to be closed until around 9 p.m.

The area is near Skyline Boulevard, and adjacent to the Saratoga Gap Open Space Preserve and Sanborn-Skyline County Park.

Santa Clara County fire dispatchers said crews got all the equipment needed to fight the fire to the scene and "it doesn't look like it's going anywhere."

No information about what caused the crash was immediately available, but CHP dispatchers said there was no indication that anyone was injured.
