RICHMOND -- One person was injured in a shooting early Wednesday morning, police said.

The shooting was reported about 2:34 a.m. in the 400 block of Sixth Street, according to Lt. Shawn Pickett. A 27-year-old man was found shot in the lower torso.

He was treated at the scene by firefighters and paramedics, and later taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police searched the area but did not locate a suspect. The motive was unknown.
