SANTA CRUZ - A 47-year-old Live Oak man previously convicted of stealing women's underwear is back in Santa Cruz County Jail for an alleged probation violation.
Conrad William Smith was arrested on Jan. 3 after sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a dispute between him and his mother. Deputies say Smith was in possession of women's underwear in violation of his probation terms.
Smith was arrested in January 2011 after he allegedly stole women's underwear from a laundry room of a nearby apartment complex and then draped them around inside his mobile home. Deputies were tipped off after several residents reported disappearances of clothing items including bras and underwear. Smith was arrested in that case on suspicion of possession of stolen property and violating probation.
For this latest arrest, Smith is due back in court Friday to set a hearing date. He is being held in Santa Cruz County Jail with no bail.
Last week, a Santa Cruz teenager was also arrested after police found him with several stolen pairs of women's underwear.
