OAKLAND -- A young boy was in critical condition after he was struck by a car Thursday afternoon.

The boy's name and age, which has not been released by police, was rushed to Children's Hospital and Research Center in Oakland with a bleeding head after he was hit at 28th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard around 5:33 p.m., according to police.

It is unclear if the boy ran out into traffic or if he was hit while he was in one of the two crosswalks on that corner. Police also did not say if any arrests had been made.
