SAN MATEO -- The City Council on Tuesday will consider the latest version of a plan by St. Matthew Catholic Church and school to overhaul its campus.
The city rejected the parish's first proposal in 2009, and the Planning Commission turned down a revision of the project in August. The centerpiece of the plan is a nearly 12,000-square-foot gymnasium for students at the K-8 school.
Neighbors have complained that the project for the school of roughly 600 students will cause traffic problems. There is also concern about the proposed removal of 12 heritage trees on the property, located at the intersection of El Camino Real and Notre Dame Avenue.
The council will meet at 7 p.m. at 330 W. 20th Ave.
