VALLEJO -- Police arrested a man Monday who they said assaulted several medical personnel after storming a local emergency room.

At about 11:20 a.m., officers responded to Sutter Solano Medical Center to reports of a man who forced himself into the emergency room to see his wife, who was on a mental health hold, police said.

Staff denied the man admittance into the hospital, but he then became agitated and forced his way in, police said.

Hospital staff quickly detained him, but the man managed to break free and leapt over the counter into the emergency room, police said. He then assaulted several workers who tried to restrain him.

Officers then arrived on the scene and subdued the man. Arrested was Tavi Small, 28, on suspicion of battery, battery on medical staff and resisting arrest.
