SAN JOSE -- Police are investigating the third homicide of the year -- and the second in two days -- when a man died at a hospital after being stabbed multiple times around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officers responded to the area of Southside Drive and Hope Street in the Kenwood neighborhood, off Monterey Highway, after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed. They found the victim, who was transported to Regional Medical Center in San Jose where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Police said that the victim was attacked by several male suspects for unknown reasons, at which point he was stabbed several times.

The attackers fled the scene and remain at large, and no suspects have been identified. Police said they do not know a motive behind the attack, and the victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

On Wednesday, Anna Duong, 43, was shot and killed in her condominium near Tully Road. Police said she leaves behind a 12-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter.

The year's first killing was recorded when Ivan Segura, 34, was found shot to death in front of the home he shared with his wife and 5-year-old daughter in the 1900 block of Tripoli Avenue on Jan. 6.
