ALBANY -- Police arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder Thursday night after they said he put a loaded gun to his brother's head and pulled the trigger.

Police would not say if the gun fired or if the brother received any injuries. An Albany Fire Department spokesman said firefighter-paramedics had not been called to treat any gunshot victims Wednesday night, when the incident took place.

The attempted shooting was not reported until about 2 p.m. Thursday, police said. The brothers were inside an Albany home when they had a dispute; police would not say what the dispute was about or disclose the location of the home.

Police said the suspect, John Delaney, 48, put the loaded handgun to his brother's head and pulled the trigger while "menacing" him. The brother's name and age were not released.

Police arrested Delaney during a traffic stop about 6 p.m. Thursday and recovered the gun used in the incident.

Delaney is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of attempted murder. His arraignment is scheduled for next week.
