The two left lanes of northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Sunnyvale are open following a big rig collision and fuel spill this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Wood debris and spilled fuel remain in the roadway near the northbound Lawrence Expressway on-ramp after a big rig hit a guardrail. The big rig then went off the roadway and struck a light pole, according to the CHP.
The collision was reported at 2:49 a.m., according to the CHP.
A Sig-alert was issued at 3:19 a.m.
An estimated 30 gallons of fuel spilled onto the roadway as a result of the collision.
According to the CHP, the driver of the big rig sustained a minor laceration to his forehead, but refused medical treatment.
The roadway is expected to remain partially blocked this morning until Caltrans clears the roadway of debris and fuel, according to the CHP.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
