OAKLAND -- KPIX-TV will present a live prime time special, "A Super Night on the New Bay Bridge," immediately following Super Bowl XLVII. It will originate from New Orleans and the new eastern span of the bridge, according to the KCBS San Francisco website.

Gov. Jerry Brown, a former Oakland mayor, will start the countdown clock to the opening of the new Bay Bridge, slated for Labor Day weekend, the website stated.

The show will feature live postgame Super Bowl coverage from the Superdome and New Orleans as well as 49er fan reactions from around the Bay Area.

It will also present new information about the plan to close the Bay Bridge for five days, when it will reopen, and the activities being considered to celebrate its completion; plus stories about the history and future of the bridge, the website said.

"We will be celebrating two extraordinary local accomplishments -- a Super Bowl appearance by our San Francisco 49ers and the completion of the new Bay Bridge by an inspired team of designers and builders," said Bruno Cohen, KPIX 5 president and general manager, on the website.
