HAYWARD -- A plan to restore some on-street parking downtown will go before the City Council on Tuesday.
Parking was removed from portions of Foothill Boulevard, A Street and Mission Boulevard as plans proceed to create a one-way loop designed to improve commute traffic through downtown. But after merchants complained, the council asked city staff members to see if there was a way to add back at least some of the parking.
The revised plan removes a travel lane and restores some parking on the west side of Foothill and the south side of A. While no formal action is scheduled for Tuesday's work session, staff members will take suggestions from the council and adjust the plan if needed, said Morad Fakhrai, city director of public works, engineering and transportation.
The one-way loop is scheduled to start in March.
Tuesday's meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 777 B St., Hayward.
