SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants prospect Angel Villalona has received a work visa and will be in camp next week, Baseball America reported Thursday.

Villalona, 22, has not stepped foot in the U.S. since Sept. 2009, when he was arrested and charged in a shooting that left a 25-year-old dead in the Dominican Republic. The charges were eventually dropped and Villalona settled with the victim's family.

The first baseman had attempted to return to the club last season but his visa request was denied because of a combination of health and weight issues. Villalona, who was placed on the restricted list last April, got as high as High-A San Jose in 2009, hitting .267 with nine homers in 74 games.
