RICHMOND -- A man was killed and at least one other person injured in a rollover crash Saturday afternoon on westbound Interstate 80.

The crash was reported about 1:14 p.m. just west of the Carlson Avenue exit, according to California Highway Patrol officer James Evans. Several cars were on the side of the road at the scene, Evans said, but it was unclear how many vehicles were involved in the accident.

One man, believed to be from Hayward was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CHP officer Sam Morgan. One other person was being transported to a hospital, but the extent of their injuries was unclear.

The number one and two lanes were blocked during the investigation of the crash and were opened about 4:30 p.m., according to the CHP.

Traffic delays are expected, and drivers are advised to either avoid the area or allow for extra travel time.
