John Adams talks storied career, Cabrillo Festival
The Pulitzer Prize-winning Berkeley composer will make one of his regular summer jaunts to Santa Cruz for the West Coast premiere of his jazz-inspired Saxophone Concerto; it will be the 18th Adams work performed at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music (July 27-Aug. 10), where the composer was once music director and lately has taken on a new role -- commissioning young composers, to nurture a new generation and 'keep the energy going.'
