Monte Vista girls roll into section playoffs
Sisters Lynsey and Mallory Hromatko each scored as the Monte Vista High girls soccer team beat Granada 2-0 in a makeup game on Feb. 9 to close out the East Bay Athletic League regular season. The Mustangs entered the North Coast Section Division I playoffs this week as the No. 2 seed. San Ramon Valley is the No. 1 seed. Granada finished the season with a 5-9 league record.-- Matt Schwab
Athenian wrestling makes history
The No. 3 seeded Athenian wrestling team earned its best finish at the NCS Division III Dual Team Championships on Feb. 9. The Owls beat Kelseyville 51-22 in the third-place match. Athenian also defeated St. Patrick/St. Vincent-Vallejo 49-24 in the consolation to bracket.-- Matt Schwab
Amador Valley girls hold off SRV
Alysse Ketner and Courtney Seams each had 15 points as the Amador Valley girls basketball team held off upset-minded San Ramon Valley 46-45 on Feb. 8 in the EBAL. Sophomore Morgan McGarry led the young Wolves with 10 points. Amador Valley had a big week, also beating Monte Vista 51-41 on Feb. 5, besting the Mustangs for the second time this season.
